Bali: Como Shambala in Ubud

Bali is a magical place. It reminds me of the utopia Aldous Huxley described in Island. The people are radiant and live in synergy with the land and the invisible worlds. Everyone ought to visit Bali at least once. Beauty is woven into every daily activity, from the creation of offerings to the rice-terraced land. Imagine the impact that philosophy will have on your intimate life!

Como Shambhala is a resort dedicated to healing and rejuvenation. It’s situated in the island’s arts-and-culture capital of Ubud (and my former home). While rejuvenating your sex life, you can also indulge in an array of therapies from Ayurvedic and Thai massage to Pilates.

Mexico: Cuixmala Eco Estate

Cuixmala is a 25,000 acre nature preserve located a few hours south of Puerto Vallarta. It is the creation of late British financier and environmentalist, Jimmy Goldsmith. He settled there in the late 1980’s to build a family home and to set up an ecological sanctuary. Today, his son, Alix Goldsmith has since opened the land up to guests.

Though Cuixmala has hosted heads of state over the years, its devotion to the purity and beauty of clean air, water, food and land, mixed with high standards in design and quality, lend it an earthy, yet ethereal feel. Experience the majesty of the land and recalibrate the soul.

Africa: Ulusaba

Ulusaba means “place of little fear.” What better spot to hunt your own demons?

Richard Branson’s private game reserve is in the western sector of the Sabi Sand Reserve; close to Kruger National Park which is in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. One of the lodges is carved into a rocky hillside and features rope-bridges connecting the rooms. The other lodge is situated on a peninsula, where you can be greeted by passing animals on their way to the local watering hole.

Buenos Aires: Faena Hotel and Universe

Buenos Aires is a city brimming with unrestrained, sensual heat. It’s hard not to tap into that energy and use it to fuel your own intimate life.
